Dear Colleagues,

I would like to welcome you to the International Association of Physicians in Audiology website. Having celebrated 25 years since the inception of our Association and convened another excellent international, scientific meeting in Mexico City, I encourage you to join our Association and take part in our academic activities.

Audiological medicine is a medical discipline dealing with diagnosis, medical treatment and rehabilitation of hearing and balance disorders. In this context, IAPA - as the association of those interested in audiological medicine - has several important aims:

• To consolidate and promote audiological medicine as a well-defined and independent speciality worldwide.
• To strengthen the relationship between this area of medical practice and closely associated specialties, particularly Phoniatrics and the Neurosciences.
• To disseminate the academic and scientific achievements of our speciality through the journal of the association - Audiological Medicine - and our international meetings.
• To promote educational activities for trainees and other clinicians involved in the provision of audiovestibular services.

In order to achieve our aims, a joint international effort based on fluent and rapid communication is required. It is my hope that you will find this website useful and of great benefit to our discipline and your daily practice.
