Professor Bengt Olof Barr MD, Phd (Born 1916)

He graduated in medicine 1945 and started his medical career in the ENT department of the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm 1947. The Department of Audiology was established in 1953 and the Division of Peadiatric Audiology five years later. Bengt's main interest was in peadiatric audiology and he became chief physician in 1968. He was appointed assistant professor in 1971 and later professor. He was also the head of the Audiological Department of the Karolinska Hospital. He performed fundamental research in peadiatric audiology together with Erik Wedenberg and Henry Andersson. His Doctoral thesis was on "Pure tone audiometry for preschool children" (1955).
